1. Cut Your Cold Dairy Products

Dairy products can create a problem with sinusitis. Some people are allergic to them and immediately develop symptoms when they consume dairy products. So you need to cut on curd, ice creams, and other milk products to reduce the severity of the infection. You can always drink Hot/Warm Milk. Look for healthier substitutes and avoid dairy products if you are allergic.

2. Inhale Steam

Steam inhalation is the best natural cures for a sinus infection, either acute or severe. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil in boiling water. Take a towel and cover your head and the vessel so that the steam does not escape. Inhale the steam for around 15-20 minutes. The eucalyptus oil is will because of a burning sensation in your nasal passages as it is very potent but will also cure the infection, giving you considerable relief.

3. Take Some Rest

A sinus infection can weaken your body from inside. So, it is very important to stay at home and rest. This will give your body strength to heal up and throw off the infection.

4. Drink More Water

Drink warm water the entire day to keep the passage of your nose and throat moist. If the infection has reached your lungs then there are chances you might vomit. This leaves you dehydrated. Your throat will also feel dry. So drinking water from time to time keeps you hydrated and your throat is also relaxed.

5. Drink Soups

While preparing your soup use herbs and spices like black pepper, cayenne pepper. You can have chicken soup if you are a non-vegetarian.

6. Herbal tea

Take a pot of water and add ginger paste, black pepper, cinnamon, basil leaves, cloves, and honey to it. Boil this water and in end add tea leaves. Strain and consume a few cups of this tea 2-3 times a day. Drink when it is hot. It gives relief from inside and continuous use provides relief in 2-3 days.

7. Try Neti Pot

This remedy might sound weird to you but is very effective.  A neti pot is a way of irrigating your nasal passages with saline water. All you need to do is fill the pot with Luke warm water and add a teaspoon of salt to it. Place the spout in one nostril, tilting your head to the side such that the water comes out of the opposite nostril. This is an effective method as it helps to clear severe nasal congestion.

Remember not to tilt the head back as the water will go down your throat.

8. Do a Salt Water Gargle

A sinus infection when it reaches your throat cause irritation and pain in the throat. To combat this, do gargles of hot water regularly. To a glass of warm water add a pinch of salt and gargle with this water 4-5 times a day. It will give relief to your throat irritation.

9. Grapefruit seed extract

It has powerful antioxidants having anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. You can have pills of grapefruit seed extract. You can also use it in the form of a nasal spray with some other remedies.

10. Apple cider vinegar

We again have Apple Cider Vinegar as a remedy for our new problem. It can be taken as a tonic throughout the day to prevent the onset of sinusitis. Take half a cup of ACV and mix it in a glass of water. Sip this water throughout the day.

11. Steam shower

Your steam showers can also treat your sinus problems. Breathe in the hot steam from a shower by standing in a shower cubicle. This will also help to clear nasal passages and also give your body instant relief.

12. Allergy-proof Your House

Dust and pollen also cause allergies. So to keep yourself away from these keep your surroundings clean. Dust your house regularly, stay away from pets and try to avoid flowers inside your house. Pets contain pet dander that can give rise to an allergy, so maintain a distance from them.

15. Horseradish

This pungent kitchen ingredient is a natural herbal antibiotic that deals with the bacteria in the nasal cavity. It is a great tool against sinus congestion.
