Can Cannabis Cure Cancer?

People all over the World are Overwhelmed by this very question: Can Cannabis Cure Cancer? Let’s Find Out!

The Benefits of Cannabis

The scientific research on the healing properties of marijuana is almost beyond belief. It helps with practically any disorder you can think of. It helps with nausea, insomnia, glaucoma, asthma, HIV, Parkinson’s, back pain, skin diseases, arthritis, Crohn’s, Hepatitis C and much more besides.

One of the most significant claims about cannabis is that it helps boost metabolism while at the same time stimulating appetite. It does this through the regulation of the hormone known as insulin, which also plays a role in heart health and blood pressure.

Studies have found that on average marijuana users are thinner than their non-smoking counterparts. This is good not just for those suffering from a particular medical condition. A faster metabolism is nearly always a good thing, as it means you have more energy and burn your food faster, absorbing more nutrients.

How Cannabis Works?

The active and well-known compound found in Cannabis is THC. THC behaves very similarly to an endocannabinoid, a molecule which is produced naturally in the human body.

The endocannabinoid system in the human body is responsible for some very important physiological processes. These processes include temperature regulation, mood, emotional processing, metabolism, pain, pleasure, sleep, and appetite.

When THC is ingested in the form of smoke or vapor it acts as an endocannabinoid and has various effects on these components. A dysfunctional ECS (Endocannabinoid System) has been linked to conditions including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and fibromyalgia.

In a nutshell, this is how cannabis works, through THC fulfilling the role of an endocannabinoid in the human body.

When the body does not produce enough endocannabinoids, it is termed clinical endocannabinoid deficiency, and this will ultimately manifest in some form of the disease. Endocannabinoids are created in the body with the help of essential fatty acids, and there is a connection between diets low in essential fatty acids and severe mood changes caused by poor endocannabinoid regulation.

CBD also plays a role, as it increases the number of endocannabinoids in the system without any psychoactive effects.

Can Cannabis Cure Cancer?

The World Health Organization estimates that one in 6 deaths is due to cancer or cancer-related illnesses. Nearly 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage of their lives according to some estimates.

To say that cannabis may cure cancer is something of a stretch. Doubtless, cannabis alleviates many of the symptoms that are associated with cancer.

Indica strains of marijuana are known for their capability in calming and relaxing the body. They are anti-inflammatory, sleep inducing and relax the muscles, relieving tension. In this way, they are effective for practically anyone who is suffering from any sort of painful illness or condition.

The chemical components of cannabis are known as cannabinoids, and they activate specific receptors throughout the body to produce certain effects, namely on the immune system and the central nervous system.

What is interesting is that the commercial versions of the same cannabinoids are approved drugs for the treatment of cancer and cancer-related side effects, while the plant which contains these compounds in their natural form is illegal for recreational use in most states.

Examples of such commercial treatments include dronabinol and nabilone. Taking this information into account it is difficult to understand that cannabis is still considered a schedule one drug at the federal level and only available for recreational use in 8 states in the USA- Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, Nevada, Alaska, Colorado, Washington, and California. Go to the marijuana dispensary in California if you are in need marijuana for medical purposes.

However, it is scientifically recognized that cannabinoids are effective in the treatment of cancer, which is completely different from curing cancer.

Preclinical research does show that the compounds found in cannabis are effective in killing cancer cells in a lab setting. There are also numerous anecdotal reports which suggest that cannabis oils may be helpful in the treatment of the disease, particularly skin cancer.

Cancer is a complex condition and there are many cancer variants. There are four primary methods through which cannabis operates in the treatment of cancer. These are programmed cell death, antiproliferation, anti-metastatic and anti-angiogenesis. A description of these four modes of operation is a little too technical to get into at this point. But the compounds found in cannabis, namely THC and CBD, have been proven to show these four qualities which have been shown to slow cancer and treat its symptoms.

Marijuana for Cancer: Conclusion

Marijuana has long been advocated by oncologists and many in the alternative health community as a viable method for the treatment of cancer. It cannot be definitively stated that marijuana cures cancer.

While the internet is rife with stories of those who cured their cancer with cannabis oil and the like, many of those used conventional therapies in tandem with cannabis and claimed the cure to be 100% due to the alternative treatment.

It is best to use cannabis but not to pin hopes too high as it may lead to disappointment.

But it can be said that it is most likely the best thing out there and far better than the FDA approved drugs with their obscene commercial markups. The compounds in marijuana have been proven effective at treating many symptoms of marijuana and while a cure is too strong a term to use, it is quite possibly the best thing out there to treat cancer.

There is no reason not to use marijuana for cancer if you have it or another severe illness unless you have an unusual set of circumstances which make you particularly vulnerable to THC or CBD.
