The Ultimate Guide to Healthy Teeth!

Our teeth are either our pride and joy or a point of shame that makes us smile with our lips tightly pressed.

A surprisingly large number of people don’t know much about how to keep good teeth hygiene, and it’s not that hard to do at all.

Good habits should be incorporated into our daily routine as early as possible because they can keep our teeth healthy and strong.

There are several things that you can do if you wish to have a bright, shining set of pearly whites to show off whenever you smile.

1. Change your toothbrush often

You don’t have to buy expensive toothbrushes, but you do have to change them a lot more frequently than most people are used to.

Change your brush at least once a month, because bacteria tend to gather on your brush more easily if you use it for an extended period of time.

Most experts recommend using a soft-bristled brush, but if your gums are very sensitive, you can find a brush that is marked as “extra soft” and it will be very gentle on your teeth.

Brush your teeth twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Once is not enough, but more than twice may injure your gums.

2. Pick the right toothpaste

Most of the toothpaste you find contains fluoride, which is very good for your teeth but not recommended for children under the age of six.

Toothpaste should be picked based on your needs, and if you aren’t sure which one would be good for you, then ask your dentist to help you.

Avoid whitening toothpaste if your teeth are sensitive, and if a toothpaste makes your gums sore, or feels uncomfortable in some other way, quit using it immediately.

3. Visit your dentist regularly

No one enjoys going to the dentist, but if you find the one that you like, it will make those visits easier for you.

Find a good professional dentist that will take time and care to be gentle and answer any questions you may have about dental hygiene.

For example, not all dentists bother to check for root inflammation unless it is obvious or suggests wearing adult braces, although it can be very beneficial. So find someone who will take care and be thorough.

Regardless of whether you’re seeing your dentist get braces, to have surgery done, or for a simple tooth cleaning treatment – you want someone who you can trust to get the job done quickly and painlessly.

4. Use baking soda to whiten your teeth

You can mix one spoon of baking soda with one spoon of lemon juice and brush your teeth very gently once a week in order to remove any stains.

If your teeth are too sensitive for baking soda and lemon, another good remedy is coconut oil.

Simply rub it into your teeth every morning before you brush them with toothpaste and you’ll be seeing results within two weeks.

5. Eat properly to maintain strong teeth

Your teeth, the same as the rest of your body, benefit strongly from a healthy diet. Avoid sugar like plague, and eat anti-inflammatory foods, like blueberries and leafy greens, that will lower the risk of infections.

Omega 3 fats are also good for your teeth and they can be found in fish. Calcium is very important for bones as well as teeth. Drink Milk and consume Eggs regularly!

Eating plenty of fruit, vegetables, dairy, and other whole foods should provide you with all the nutrition that you need in order to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

The appearance of our teeth is, in part, related to our genetics, but a larger part is related to our cleaning habits and how frequent are our visits to the dentist.

Taking care of our teeth should be one of the basics of our health and beauty routines.
