The diet plays the important role in our skin beauty. Acne is a skin nightmare of any people and it is caused by the poor skin care routine, environment pollution, hormonal changes and a bad diet. Foods that trigger acne breakouts include spicy foods, cheese, pizza, sugar and junk foods.

A vegan diet is believed to reduce acne problem, improve skin and prevent many skin conditions. Many people notice the significant acne disappearance when they become a vegetarian and follow a vegan diet. However, some people still experience acne breakout when they eat certain vegan foods.

Whether you are vegetarian or not, it is important for you to know the acne causes and find out the best suitable acne treatments. There is an expectation that all vegetarian are skinny, healthy and beautiful with glowing flawless skin – but it is not true and realistic.

There is no clear evidence that vegan diet gives you a glowing and flawless skin. It depends on the foods you eat. If you want to get rid of acne and skin issues, you should avoid refined and processed foods in your diet. Moreover, write down acne-triggering foods on your notebook and avoid eating them.

Here are excellent tips for a vegetarian to deal with acne and breakouts.

1. Get Rid of Acne Triggering Foods from Your Diet

It is the first diet tip you should know. Not many people know that eating so much pasta and bread can lead to acne and breakouts. Pasta and breakout are processed foods and they are low in nutrients. Overconsumption increases the blood sugar levels, resulting in obesity, diabetes, and some skin issues. Cakes, bread, chips, pasta and even vegetarian junk foods are not healthy and good for your skin.

If you want to treat or avoid acne problem, you should get rid of those unhealthy foods and start a diet of real fresh foods like whole grains, vegetables, legumes and beans, seeds, nuts, and fruits.

2. Eat a Plenty of Vegetables

No matter what diet you are following, you should eat a plenty of vegetables. A diet that is loaded with vegetables helps reduce acne and breakouts.

However, not all vegetables can be eaten if you suffer from acne. It is important for you to keep in mind that starchy vegetables such as potatoes worsen the breakouts. Colorful vegetables, green leafy vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, sprouts, fresh herbs, and seaweed are recommended eating.

Vegetables are anti-inflammatory foods that can reduce inflammation skin conditions like acne. A diet of vegetables also alleviates skin irritation and fastens the damage healing and skin recovery.

Vegetables are rich in mineral, vitamins, and antioxidants.

You should consume at least one green salad daily. It is recommended adding vegetables in the dinner and lunch. Eating vegetables in the breakfast is good for your skin too.

3. Avoid Soy Products

Soy products are not the ideal choices if you suffer from acne and breakouts. Having naturally occurring phytoestrogen, soy products can lead to a hormone imbalance. Hormone changes may worsen the acne condition.

Some soy products are processed foods that cause skin allergy in acne sufferers.

Acne sufferers should avoid eating soy burgers, soy margarine, tofu hot dog, soy cheese, soy milk, soy ice cream, soy yogurt, soy protein powder, soybean oil, and processed soy foods.

Soy foods you can eat include tofu, tempeh, and edamame beans.

4. Cut Sugar and Carbs from Your Diet

Sometimes a vegan diet ends up being a high carb diet. It is not good if you suffer from acne and breakouts. High carb may result in worse acne and breakouts in some people.

For acne sufferers, it is recommended cutting carbs and sugar from their diet. You do not need to avoid them completely. But it is important for you to reduce its intake. Keep in mind that dried fruits, tropical fruits, and flour foods are bad for the acne condition.

If your acne problem is caused by a bad diet, you should cut down the flour and high glycemic fruits for a couple of weeks. If you do not see any improvements, you can let the flour and fruits back to your diet.

Lower glycemic fruits like pears, apples, and berries are highly recommended if a high glycemic diet causes your acne problem.

5. Avoid Dairy Products

If you have acne and breakouts, it could be caused by dairy products. It is recommended avoiding dairy products such as animal milk, yogurt, cheese, creams, kefir, butter, ice cream, whey protein powder, and ghee. For acne sufferers, homemade seed or nut milk is the ideal choice. Coconut milk is also a good alternative for animal milk.
