Stomach ulcers or peptic ulcer/gastric ulcers occur when the lining of the stomach (small intestine) breaks down by the harmful effects of stomach acid.

Most of the Stomach ulcers are caused by the bacteria called Helicobacter pylori and also by the over usage of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like Asprin.

Other reasons for Stomach Ulcers include physical injury, high alcohol consumption, burns, or the use of painkillers like aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen.

Symptoms of stomach ulcers include a burning sensation or pain in upper abdominal, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, bloating, belching, nausea, etc.

A gastric ulcer can affect people of all ages, but it is mostly seen in people above 60.

You can try these simple, effective home remedies to get rid of stomach ulcers before it gets worse.

Natural Remedies to Cure Stomach Ulcers

 

1. Cabbage

Cabbage is rich in lactic acid and vitamin C that help treat stomach ulcers. It helps produce an amino acid that stimulates the blood flow to the stomach lining, which heals the peptic ulcer.

Take some chopped cabbage and two carrots in a mixer. Grind them to extract the juice. Drink the ½ cup of this juice twice daily (only 850 ml in a day).

2. Coconut

Coconut possesses anti-bacterial properties that ward off the ulcer-causing bacteria.

Drink coconut water regularly, else, eat the kernel of coconut to get better results. Also, you can take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil twice daily for one week. It is composed of saturated fat and medium-chain fatty acid, so it can be easily digested.

3. Fenugreek

Take 1 cup of fenugreek leaves and add three cups of water to it. Boil this solution and add a pinch of salt to it. Strain it and let it cool down. Drink 1 cup of this mixture twice daily. Else, soak two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Strain it the next morning and drink this water before breakfast.

4. Banana

It consists of an antiulcer component that provides a protective covering by increasing the mucus in the digestive tract, effectively treating the ulcers.

Eat a ripe banana followed by a glass of milk. Alternatively, you can also prepare fresh banana milkshake and add honey to it for taste. Drink it thrice a day.

5. Cayenne pepper

It effectively fights off the ulcer-causing bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Also, cayenne pepper boosts the production of alkali and regulates the stomach secretions that prevent the production of acids.

Mix one- fourth teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a cup of hot water and drink it daily. Moreover, cayenne pepper can also be added to soups and other dishes.

6. Honey

Honey contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide. This enzyme helps to kill the bacteria responsible for the development of stomach ulcers. In the morning take one spoon of honey with milk, daily.

18. White gourd

The White gourd has alkaline nature due to which it neutralizes the acidic effect in the stomach. Grate some ash gourd and extract out the juice from it. Then, add an equal amount of water to it. Have it daily on an empty stomach and do not eat food for 2 to 3 hours.

19. Apple cider vinegar

ACV is also a wonderful treatment for health problems. Sometimes due to lack of acid in your stomach, you might face problems with acid reflux.

Take a glass of water and add 1 tablespoon of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar to it. Drink it to improve the acidic content in your stomach.
